Reds player saves choking victim

I recently read and watched an interview regarding Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier saving a choking victim at the restaurant he was dining at. Frazier was dining with teamate Ryan Ludwick when he noticed someone was choking across the room. Reacting quickly Frazier began administering the heimlich manuever and saving the individual. The reason I am addressing this article is becaue of its believable positivity. I am so used to hearing negative news regarding professional players regardless of which sport they are employed in. Usually its a D.U.I, battery or domestic violence, or possesion of nemerous illegal substances or fireams. However this article sheds light on the postive aspect of proffesional players. I would have more respect for players if they conducted themselves much like Todd Frazier on and off the field or court. Im so tired of players legally changing their names to aquire more fame or popularity (if you watch enough sports, you know who Im talking about). Why cant proffesional sports be more like they used to be? Where the player was idolized not only by his athletism or ability but his manner and attitude. Not only is Frazier a good-samaritian and a great ball player, but a Cincinati Red.

Growing up is getting old

Everyday we wake up a day older and with every passing day we take on new responsibilities as growing adults. With the conclusion of college drawing more near everyday, I have quickly realized how fast time goes by. Its just now starting to sink in that I am an adult with an adult career in the near future. Where did the time go? I can remember parts of my childhood like they were yesterday. From baseball practices, birthdays parties, school functions, and even bible school when I was really young. Our parents weren't lieing when they told us to enjoy those days because looking back we didn't have a worry in the world compared to today, let alone what the future has to offer.

Whats to come?

Sorry I have been super busy lately and not keeping up with my blog like I should. However, I was watching the news last night regarding all of the negativity in the world today since rarely does the news portray positive updates regarding the world we live in. With that being said, the topic that immediately caught my attention was the issue that President Obama might be making peace talks with the Taliban and considering releasing all of the inmates at Guantanamo Bay. I wanted to pretend I wasn't hearing such nonsense but unfortunately I wasn't. Don't get me wrong, I hope for world peace daily. On the other hand like the famous Alan Jackson song expresses "Have you Forgotten". I'm afraid our president has, me on the other hand sure as hell hasn't.
Don't hold me to the facts and do your own research but this is what I correctly interpreted from the broadcast. If your not aware, Guantanamo Bay is where the the terrorists that plotted 9/11 are held along with other known terrorists that our military has successfully captured in the War on Terror. You're telling me that Mr.President wants to make peace by considering releasing these people? Who says the Taliban would ever even consider keeping their word. And if Obama does do such a thing as release them. How would that make all of our brave men and women who have fought and sacrificed everything for this country? This is a kick in the teeth to all of our soldiers who have fought and died while protecting our rights and way of life in this great country we are so blessed to live in. I'm now going to step down off my soap box but will continue to keep a close eye on this important topic. In the mean time keep our soldiers and their families in your prayers, and thank them every time you get the chance. God Bless

A little about me

Hi, my name is Ty McGuire and I am a senior here at The Ohio State University. I am majoring in Animal Science while minoring in Ag Education and Extension. I grew up in south western Ohio on a commercial cattle operation and row crop farm. I arguably feel that growing up in an agricultural setting is the best possible way for a child to grow. Not only did I quickly begin to appreciate hard work and how it benefits an individual but also manners, and how to appreciate the outdoors. I feel farm kids are some of the healthiest students around campus for many reasons. Hard manual labor kept us fit, while being outside kept us exposed to pollen, a lot of ingested dirt (at a young age) and very much pet and animal dander if you were as fortunate as I was resulting in strong immune systems. After receiving my temporary drivers licences, the required 50 hours of driving practice had already been completed to the 10th power the previous 8 or so years. And to this day knock on wood, I still have a clean driving record thanks to all those miles and hours on the tractor seat growing up.
